Scott Tatum MD, FACS, FAAP
Dr. Scott Tatum is a double-board certified facial plastics surgeon. Following training in otoloaryngology and head and neck surgery at Eastern Virginia Medical School, Dr. Tatum completed fellowships in both craniomaxillofacial surgery (Hamburg, Germany) and facial plastic and reconstructive surgery (University of California Davis, Sacramento, CA).
Dr. Tatum is currently president-elect for the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS).
At SUNY Upstate Medical University, Dr. Tatum is a Professor of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and Pediatrics. He is currently the Medical Director of the Cleft and Craniofacial Center and Director of the Division of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He plays a vital role in the education of trainees as the Co-Director of the Craniomaxillofacial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery fellowship.
Dr. Tatum has served on the boards of JAMA Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Current Opinion in Otolaryngology, Facial Plastic Surgery Clinics, the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He has traveled extensively on overseas surgical missions. He has given over 200 presentations, many international and co-authored over 175 publications. Dr. Tatum has received numerous awards for service and clinical excellence and has been identified as one of Castle Connolly's Top Doctors since 2004. Dr. Tatum is serving as President of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS) in 2023 and 2024.
Clinically, Dr. Tatum is primarily focused on reconstruction particularly of cleft lip/palate and craniomaxillofacial disorders.
